Illegal hunting of argali could result in MNT 44 million fine
Mongolia has updated the ecological and economic valuation of wildlife under Government Resolution No. 260 of 5 July 2023, introducing a system that assesses animals individually without distinguishing by sex or age. Under the Law on Animals, compensation for damage caused by illegal hunting without proper permits is calculated at twice the government-approved ecological and economic value of the animal. As a result, the illegal hunting of an argali can lead to a fine of up to MNT 44 million. This year’s first foal of Przewalski's horse born in Khustai National Park
More than 350 Przewalski's horses are currently grazing in Khustai National Park. This year’s first foal, a female born to the stallion Brigad and the mare Frida, has been delivered by the wild horses that occupy more than 60 percent of the park’s total area. Khustai is a non-governmental organization that manages state-owned land under a management contract. Its goal is to restore the Khustai wild horse, which is described by Mongolians as the only surviving species of its kind on Earth, increase its population, protect biodiversity, and pass it on to future generations.
“Ulaanbaatar Travel Expo-2026” tourism exhibition to be held at Sukhbaatar Square on June 10-11
The “Ulaanbaatar Travel Expo-2026” tourism exhibition will be held for the 12th time on May 29–31. The exhibition aims to develop domestic tourism, encourage travelers to plan their trips more carefully, and create opportunities for participating organizations to cooperate and expand their businesses. During the event, citizens will be able to plan and book trips through professional organizations and make direct purchases. They will also have the opportunity to hear presentations from industry experts and receive travel advice and recommendations in one place. The exhibition will bring together tourism agencies from 21 provinces, as well as representatives of airlines, ticketing and insurance companies, hotels, tourist camps, resorts, travel equipment suppliers, and domestic and foreign organizations offering a wide range of travel products and services. Representatives of the Korea Tourism Organization and China’s Sanya Youth Travel Agency are also expected to participate. The exhibition, jointly organized by the Ulaanbaatar Tourism Department and the Ulaanbaatar Tourism Association, will be held at Sukhbaatar Square.
"The Hu” celebrates 10th anniversary
The 10th anniversary of the band “The Hu” was celebrated in 2026 and will be celebrated with Mongolians in their homeland. The anniversary celebration will be held at the Central Stadium in August. They will also release their third album as a gift to their fans. “The Hu” performed a full live concert, “Nar Sar”, in Mongolia for the first time in 2024. The British newspaper “The Guardian” described the band as a new phenomenon in the music world. Their first full live concert was held in Mongolia on May 24, 2019. And, they participated more than 350 concerts in international stages since 2016. “The Hu” band had formed in 2016 and from this time they became known internationally in a short time. “The Hu” band was awarded the highest award of the Mongolian state, the first-class Genghis Khan Order in November 27, 2019. Genghis Khan Order was awarded from 2005. Dashdondog.B, the producer of “The Hu” band, who creates art in Hunnu rock style, has awarded Genghis Khan Order this year.
